How long do you think before the Xbox One gets the "slim" treatment? Even thought I don't mind but the Xbox One is quite big currently. This has to be done to curb the overheating issue that plagued the 360. This also makes me quite curious of how Microsoft will make a "slim" version and still have the heat management of the current Xbox One.

I don't think they'll make one because of what happened to 360. They made it bigger to give room for more ventilation.

I don't know if they will, and I personally don't care. The current Xbox One isn't "slim", but it still doesn't take up much space.

doesn't need to be a slim version

at the rate the rumors are comming out about 1tb this, diskless that white shell that we could see a slim in 6 months lol. but really i think its quite a ways away.

this is just me thinking out loud..
i think this is how the next console changes will go.

white case
1tb hd
ddr5 ram upgrade

and yes i could see the diskless console.. they would not be putting r&d into it if the numbers didn't show the want for it...

I actually heard about a discless model, perhaps this is an attempt to make the Xbox slimmer and it could also solve the heating issues, only time will tell

A Slim version? Well, if they can replicate the success of the big version, sure but as I've heard from these forums, the design was meant to counter any overheating issues. Might take a while.

Yeah, I heard about that too. Discless version... not sure if that can work for me. Ah well, time will tell then.

As much as you think a slim version is unnecessary but it's inevitable. Every since Sony started with the slim console trend, slim has become a norm for both Sony and Microsoft. Reason being that they need to cut production costs and make them cheaper.

I guess so. But yeah, I don't think it's really necessary to make one since the functions and everything else is going to be just the same.

I don't see XBox doing this. I know PS started the trend, but I don't see Microsoft copying off that in this case. I could very easily be wrong, of course.

A possibility but then they'd have to change a lot of things to really make it work. They need to change a lot of things if they need to make this Slim version.

It might take some time. It's not easy to just do that since, you know, it was initially to be designed like that. Anyway, with technology advancing, they may be able to replicate their success with the current design on a Slim version in a few years. You'll just have to wait.

I wish they could make something really slim, like laptop kind of slim. That would really save space it would be easier to carry around. But, yeah we just have to wait.

I think that's a dream come true if it can be done but I doubt it. These new consoles need serious ventilation to keep working, having a laptop design seems not possible, at least for now. I'll be glad if consoles can revert back to the size that the old SNES was.

I guess you're right. God I miss my SNES. I sold mine on Ebay.

I don't think it will ever come out. I guess they made it this huge to take care of the issues that 360 had with heat. The bigger the better the ventilation. But if they can make something really smaller than this I wouldn't mind getting it.

Same here that way I can save more space.

Check out this X-One disassembly. He says it's close to the Slim. I can't post links yet, but just google "Ben Heck Xbox One" and you can see it.
