Xbox One How will you buy your games?

Like i always do, go online and look for the games i like, log in and purchase it. I like owning a physical copy of the game because it's safer that way. If you delete the game off your hard drive by mistake and don't have a connect at that time, it means you can't play. With a cd, much safer.

I prefer to purchase my games online, whether that means through the console network or at a site like Gamestop. I like the idea of having digital copies of a game, given how much disk space is granted, but I think having them on a disk is much better just to keep that atmosphere of having a collection around. I'll probably be both downloading them and ordering them online.

You know those type of games you get that you know right away you'll have forever? The ones you never get tired of playing? I'll download those onto my harddrive, a select few to save space. The ones I buy just for a bit, but I am willing to get rid of, that'll be disc.

I think it would be great to be able to do both somehow. You would install the game to your hard drive and be able to play it from there without the disc, but they'd have to implement a safeguard to make sure people don't pirate games that way. It would probably be something like an access code that only works once, but then that doesn't sound very practical. Still, I want to be able to sell games later if I stop playing them (or don't like them), so the idea of buying digital games generally doesn't appeal to me.

I'll probably be mostly buying physical copies of games online, but I'm sure I'll buy a lot of digital games, as well as buying physical games in-store. I am a deal-hunter, so buying games online is naturally something I gravitate toward.

You can do both like 360. You can always buy on xblive or hard disk. If they offer the pre order map packs on xblive it will have more adopters

With PC games I like to do online because I know that 10 years down the road they will still be safe, but I can't really say the same about consoles so I would prefer physical copies. I usually order them online, in the UK Amazon always tends to be the cheapest for games so that's most likely where I will get my games from.

Physical discs of course. It's easier and quite frankly I don't have the internet ability to do it online. Then again even if I did I wouldn't. I mean I like having a physical copy to play and if say my box dies then that seems like money lost. Which brings up another question: what is the policy on lost of data or whatever in regards to the Xbone?

I'll play it safe and old-school and have my hard copy version of the game. Part of the reason is I simply prefer the option, and I'm a collector, so adding another box to the shelf makes me feel better. I can accept digital copies when I don't have a choice, like an XBLA or Steam game, but if the chance to have a hard copy is there, I'll always take it.

I'm going full digital.

Instant game switching.
No more broken discs from overuse.
Should be cheaper since there are no stamping, packaging or retailer costs, and distribution costs are much less.
Family sharing.
There is still a possibility that we will be able to trade them in for credit towards future games.
Accessing my game collection from any Xbox One with just my profile.
Can put them all on an external HDD and play them using my profile on any Xbox One without the need to download them.
Can say "Xbox, play Halo" and I don't have to get up and put the disc in.
Don't have to go to a store to get new games.
Don't have to download the entire game to start playing it.

I am very much with you at this point. unfortunatly my first 3/4 games are already pre ordered. now if microsoft releases info saying you will be able to buy day one/launch games and get the pre order goodies i may hold out and just download those 3/4 games once i get my system home. somehow they need to let the consumer know what is possible or their plans for digital purchases to take advantage of the no disk and various things you hit on. it is the only way to have a clear picture of what to expect.

their is already options to pre order games on the 360.. bf4/ghost.gta-v and a few others were pre order capable on the dashboard.. without having the system in hand its just impossible to see how they will do it on launch day or if they are going to offer a brake for day 1 purchases. i mean even at 10 dollars a game pre order id be more than happy to buy 3/4 games on day one to get 30-40 dollars off and possibly buy that 5th game off the bat.

their has yet to be talks about saving for the consumer when digital gaming really takes off. odds are we will never see the savings. from the few marketing chatts i have heard the margins on games are slim and that is why bf4/cod games have a formula and people follow them so close.. it comes down to the ammount of sales it generates and brings to the developers. leaving the price alone and giving the developer that 10 dollars a game lets them take a risk at a new title or try something new and not loose their business trying to find the next big thing.

I'm buying my games physical for as long as I can. If a game comes in both digital and physical format, I'm going with physical. Obviously, if a game I want is ONLY digital, then I'd have no chioce but to buy it that way. Physical will always be my preference when it comes to this particular debate. I like having at least a small sense of ownership lol.

I believe that the online option is optimized for people who are mainly housebound. But yes, both methods are easy to use and very useful, especially the online one.

It's starting to be the same idea as steam, and the best part of it - microsoft might make massive deals and discounts on games like steam does. That's the best part of the online store.

I would always buy the game physically any day. I have even bought games in the past on Games on Demand to try it out and actually end up buying the physical copy of the game as well. At this point I am a game player as well as a collector. I couldn't imagine having all of my games just tied to the account. I guess it was really pointless when they had the old DRM because the games are tied to the account completely but now that the DRM is gone there are actually advantages to having the physical disk besides just being a collector. Even if games on demand are $10 cheaper I will still be buying the physical edition.

I live in a country where I have no option but to buy games digitally. Yep, you can't buy boxed games here in India. It's not worth the hassle. The only major store in our city is more than 15 kilometers away from my home. So, I don't bother with boxed games anymore. I don't know why people don't like gaming on Xbox here. Thank god for XBL AND Steam, otherwise I would have had no games to play.

I am so happy that they are going to be more digital-oriented in future. The only problem I have is my sucky internet connection with 512 kbps speed. It takes few days to download a game off Steam which is really irksome to be honest. But, I am switching to a much better plan within next 2 months. 3 MBPS connection should be fine for downloading and playing games. Then I won't experience any lags that I have to tolerate right now.

So yeah, I have always purchased my games online and will continue to do so in future.

I don't really favour one option over any of the others, I just go with whatever is the cheapest. I expect that will be an imported boxed copy because the local ones and the digital ones will likely suffer from Australia tax.

Are you not able to import?
