I guess you can tell by the title, that stupid me got out of my recliner yesterday and stepped on my Xbox One controller.
I am a good 225 lbs and it was not good.

I know it is 100% my fault, but I was a little shocked by "how much" it broke by a simple walk over it. The sides
split, the middle battery compartment widened and the batterys would not stay in, one stick will not work at all.

Only good thing, if you can call shelling out $65 for something you didn't really have to a good thing, was
there is a GameStop 5 minutes away and they were open.

For the GOOF,:eek::eek: I might try to return it to GameStop and tell them it came like that. I know they will not take it back, but it might be fun to see the looks on their faces if I act all serious. They are all really young guys working there and I am a lot older. :)

Aw man, sorry to hear this. I'm kind of surprised it held up so poorly, too. I wondered how well the thing was made... I guess we know, now!

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Gamestop when you try to pull that off, though!!! HA!

I'm not going to lie, when I first held the controller I thought it felt kinda cheap (very much like the Ouya controller). I'm really sorry that happened, though.

Well this could count as one of the "Bad Days". That's really sad man. Either way at least you get to replace it sooner. I guess if you do act all serious they might as well replace it. They do value their customers from experience. Haha.

Feel the same way. Hey you gave me an idea. Next time my controller acts up, I might try having it replaced.

Dang thanks for the heads up. I wish they included some durable controllers because they end up going everywhere.

I would avoid doing that to any controller really. Sucks that it happened to you, but I guess it was going to happen to someone. Kind of makes you wonder if they cheaped out on the materials :p

Im surprised by that because to me the x1 controller feels much more solid than my 360 controller. That thing is beat up to hell

i am 250lbs as well and have grazed mine... luckly it didnt pop or twist but i didn't have all my weight on it....
walking thru my rom at night can be intresting.. my ipad2,mackbook pro and xbox controler all are on the floor somewhere lol.

Yikes. I always leave my controller on the floor when I run to get the phone or something. I have had a few times where I tripped over it, but have never stepped on it yet. Now I know not to. I am too broke for those types of shananigans.

I must have hit the right spot as it split like a melon. I tried to force it back together so it looks like it should, but some areas the plastic actually tore and split.

I don't know whether to say that of course it broke if you step on it, or think that the controller is a little flimsy. I accidentely step on stuff all the time and haven't had any issues. Ipod, Nook, my laptop several times and each time I panicked until I saw that it was fine. It's a shame about the controller though.

I think that unless you step on it right in the middle like I must have, it will hold up better.

If I hit the edge or side grips, I doubt the damage would be so bad or maybe even anything.

If it was a genuine accident, you could have perhaps tried to sift through the warranties to see if you could get any recompense for it. Otherwise, it is true that even the sturdiest of objects will probably break if you apply pressure to it in just the right way. For as long as I have ever had a console, this was never a problem for me, but then again I am only 180lbs, so that may have something to do with it. I have stepped on controllers and such before...That's the funny thing, but never had anything as horrifying as that happened to any of them. Especially the xb1 controller, it actually feels sturdier than the 360, but who knows?

A little disappointing to hear the quality of the controller seems a bit flimsy. I've honestly never broken a controller in my life though and usually take good care of these sort of things, so hopefully mine will hold up.

Should take a picture of it, they always show the destruction better. Sucks that this happened though, controllers aren't cheap!

Yea, I've heard reports about people stating how poorly built the controller is and how cheap it feels. Sadly I have to agree. It almost looks and feels more like a 3rd party controller than anything MSFT would have built.

I still have it, but I forced it back together a lot so it doesn't look as bad. I was hoping at first I could get it to work.

I will see how it comes out in pics later.

It really sucks you stepped on your controller, RK. I leave generally fragile electronics all in the floor and I've managed to avoid them in the dark. I would say this X1 controller had a death wish, man.

I found the Xbox 360 controller to be more durable, but stepping in the middle of something which is like a death blow spot would break it. I'm more amazed that it shattered in the way it did.

I don't know whether to say that of course it broke if you step on it, or think that the controller is a little flimsy.

That was my initial thought when I saw the title.

It was a joking type thread, but I stepped and sat on remotes, phones and all kinds of things
over the years and none split like this.

Keep in mind, these pics are AFTER I spent a lot of time trying to force it back together
as I hoped it might still work.

I know it looks like it should just pop back in place, but I got it that close after muscling it
that much. The battery compartment had about 1/2 wider gap, same with the others.
