Xbox One Just a heads-up, do not step on your controller, it will break!

Yea, I've heard reports about people stating how poorly built the controller is and how cheap it feels. Sadly I have to agree. It almost looks and feels more like a 3rd party controller than anything MSFT would have built.

Yeah, the more I play/use the controller, the more I HOPE MS makes a more expensive feeling controller in the near future.

This is why consoles are cheap. This would never happen with a quality mouse like a G400 or DeathAdder.

It was a joking type thread, but I stepped and sat on remotes, phones and all kinds of things
over the years and none split like this.

Keep in mind, these pics are AFTER I spent a lot of time trying to force it back together
as I hoped it might still work.

I know it looks like it should just pop back in place, but I got it that close after muscling it
that much. The battery compartment had about 1/2 wider gap, same with the others.

After having extensive time with the XB1 controller, I can definitely say the 360 was way sturdier and felt far more durable.

Pretty sure most controllers will break if you put 225 lbs on them....

except original NES controllers. You could run those over with a truck and they would still work.

The original NES controllers didn't play around. "You think you're gonna escape Nintendo Hard by breaking your controller? This is me laughing. Now put Akari Warriors back in there."

The 360 controller was 90s-early 00s durable which is the main thing I like about it.

My thoughts exactly lmao, like what else did you expect to happen .

And the exact opposite of the NES controllers would be the Atari 2600 joysticks, yep I'm old. Those things would routinely break just playing the games. That, I think, is the least durable controller I have ever experienced.

The Ouya controllers are pretty flimsy and Retron 1's. If 2600's broke you could always run with a Genesis controller.

The Ouya controller is pretty flimsy and a little too light for me. I actually play that while wearing wrist weights. Ends up being heavier than your typical controller, but I need some kind of weight going on.

Same here, but when it comes to being comfortable on the usage of the controller I think Xbox One has my vote. Well I did sat and stepped on my Xbox 360 before but it never cracked open. So for the durability Xbox 360 has my vote.

The 360 controller is very durable. I've always said that if your controller could be thrown and be considered a projectile weapon that could cause bodily harm, that's a durable controller. That said, I've never tested this notion, but the 360 controller looks like it could do a little damage if you had even middle school level high school/baseball throwing training.

It really is. That said, the 360 controller is sooooo durable. I've rolled out of the bed and wiped the controller out with me and didn't break it when I landed on it. It hurt my back, sure...but it was okay. I think it's actually made of Samsonite.

I'd hit the dislike button if we had one. Sorry to hear and scary to see...it's one of my worst fears with the new controller. They certainly don't feel as sturdy or well made as the 360 versions.

The headset is like the white mage of your gaming peripherals, it's meant to stay off the floor and out of danger. Anything hit it and it'll die a dramatic death.

THIS is why you don't buy first generation consoles, they are bound to release a new version soon that fixes these problems, they always do. The controllers are far too flimsy, I'm sure they have gotten a ton of complaints.
I would try to contact Microsoft directly to see if they can replace it, they are usually actually very nice in these situations, they fixed my 360 free of charge when it broke after the warranty had expired, I just had to talk to an actual person there.

I'd say the main reason not to get launch consoles is because there's no games to actual games to play. A flimsy controller--while an issue--is only a huge thing to worry about if you just throw your controller down when done or something. Like "Wow, good session of COD," and fling the controller at the wall before walking out.

The One controller doesn't feel that durable to me, but I don't doubt that putting your full weight on it would break it like a cheap plastic toy. I haven't had any issues and I've dropped it a couple of times by mistake but I'm wondering if you also jumped on it?

This makes so much sense about headsets, especially the ones that come with the console at launch.
