Xbox One Kotaku: Installing Xbox One games takes way too long; comparison

So we got loading problems and now installing too? No, no, I'm not going to bash on the Xbox One. I have faith it'll get through this. A few patches here and there will give it a go. It just needs time. After all, it just launched. It's not like it was going to be instantly fast in some way.

Yeah, you do that man. See for yourself if the numbers shown here are true. If there's one way to give more depth into this info, we got to get more people to see these install times in person. Yeah, update us on this and we'll see if these install times mean anything.

Just looked up some videos on YT, the speeds are pretty much there....WTF is wrong with the XB1 then?!

Pretty damn huge difference. Really surprised to see the PS4 excel by so much in this category. Last generation, the 360 handled these things much better and the PS3 didn't, although I think a lot of that had to do with Blu-ray being slower to read from than the 360's DVD drive.

Honestly, I'm not the type of person that thinks this is a deal breaker. If I felt the Xbone was the better system for me, I would still get it regardless of this. I dealt with install times on the PS3, which I felt were inferior to the 360, but that didn't stop me from enjoying games like MGS4.

If that's true, that's sad. I know my XB1 takes quite a bit of time to install..

Meh, I don't think install times are that big of an issue. A bit of an initial pain, yes, but not a deal-breaker. Use the time for something productive.

They'll fix this. It shouldn't take that long out the box though. Given the price paid for it and that it's offering more than the PS4 is, it's reasonable to question and be a bit disappointed that installing is taking a while.

It's minor in that it's a whole 5-15 minutes of your day/life gone--living until your mid 60s-late 70s be damned, this game is taking far too long and I have nothing I could get around to in this time. Can't take the garbage out, can't answer messages, can't make a sammich, can't feed the cat--I have to sit and wait for this to install in case my Xbox One catches fire in the process...

...then I can go on Amazon and review the console's slow installs and pyrokinesis.

With the PS4 it went slower if there was something installing in the background when my brother-in-law was doing Madden 25, but was under 4 minutes when installing NBA 2K14 and nothing else.

The install times aren't a deal breaker for me, just another thing that needs to be fixed. Sure right now in comparison to the PS4 it's longer but I'm sure that MIcrosoft will fix the problems and it'll be a non-issue. It's more of a minor annoyance to me then anything else.
