Microsoft plans to extend Xbox Live to multiple platforms, including Android and iOS, The Verge reports, citing sources "familiar with Microsoft's plans."

According to The Verge, a since removed Microsoft job posting outlined the company's plans to create a multi-platform "framework" for developers.

"We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android," the job posting read.

Well all the achievement hounds will be very happy to rack up some gamerscore via flappy bird. Of course that's not actually how it will work and it will simply be much like how the service is now on Windows Phone. Basically you will have access to a Windows mobile store which would include a collection of games, some Windows and some not. The Windows branded games carry gamerscore and uses your XBL profile to track you progress and activity. Regardless this could be a nice little concept. Leave your thoughts below.

seems intresting.. would like to see how it works.. i am on ios/app store but would hate to have 2 app stores.. no need for xblive and ios.. if they will have games that just add to or are linked to gamertag/score i am ok with that.

I agree. it's interesting but well I don't check my phone that much unless there's something important to check on. Well at least now on my free time I can check on the new games.

i dont use my phone for games.. but i do have a ipad2 that i play those dumb meaningless games on.. and yes it keep track of scores and placement across the user base.. linking the stats to a xbox live or"smartglass" shouldnt be all to hard.. i would think the license/contract would be harder than actually getting the 2 to link up..

i have felt the move the old ceo or director of the console division for microsoft going to popcap was more a stratagy than a let down.

right now console gaming is at say 38million its expected growth is 42 this year. where ios/android gaming is at 13m and expected to hit 19m this year.
i cant reamember where i got those numbers but its a projected number iirc.. why the ios/android gaming market is half that of the console its still a huge chunk that the console guy's want a peice of.. with microsoft having someone on the inside you can be sure they are trying to push eachothers product and get better sales. even those 2-10 dollar games can have some playability.

whoever figures out how to integrate console and smartphones/gaming first is going to be making off sales and contracts. microsoft already made the push to get the tank game which started as an ios/adroid game.. and ported it over to the 360.. i can see some of the bigger games looking at expanding as well.

Not something that I would be entirely happy about since I lost my phone. Haha. The replacement will be delivered by next monday. So till then I have to wait to try this app out. Anyways I can always check on my Xbox One.

Hmmmm... Xbox Live into the world of the smartphones? Much like how Nintendo will spread a bit of itself into smartphones. We'll see.

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. I don't think it will make much of an impact on the industry but new things do show up on it.

We'll see indeed. It's not the kind that will make people go gaga but hey, this might draw more people into getting the XB1.

I'm curios what achievements they'll have us do here. Check your phone 77 times a day? View all the Xbox game videos available? They got to have some.

Hahaha. Yeah, they might have some achievements locked down for this.

Something that would make the app worthwhile if they could do that. Why not right?

Well, I use iOS all the time (iPhone 4S) so I'll give this a shot. Plus, you can already see I have an Xbox Live account so I'll use this, sure.

Give us a buzz when you get to try this out. And whatever you need to achieve, do it! :-D

It's good that Microsoft are getting the Xbox brand in general a good foothold on iOS and Android since they those two own the market and Windows Phone is basically an island in that market.

Microsoft is starting to make it's move towards getting recognized by other people.
