You are being a little too pessimistic here. It all depends on whether the popularity of the Xbox One, The more people purchase the console, the more chance that one more guy will need this app. And since developing, especially for those pro in the field, is not a big deal, they would go for it. There's a huge variety of things to add to the app, so i hope someone will get it going.
 
I like how you can cusimize your pins and everything already. So when it comes out and u get everyhting downloaded...BAM! all set

Mine does not let me change anything, just says looking for console as I don't have an Xbox One yet.

I'm with you on that. I just can't see myself going into my iPad while playing a game. Then again I don't know much about smart glass. Maybe I can be sold.

Does it help unlock new game content?
Can I use it to control apps like netflix?

When you get passed that, click on an App. Like search for Netflix, and click on it, and then hit add to Pin.
 
Btw, this app is now available for iPhones and iDevices and Android.

I just got it for my iPod Touch as well. It is great to know it was released, if it wasn't for this thread I would not have known.
 
Thanks for the info. I have just downloaded it. Well, since i don't have the Xbox yet, i will have to wait and check it out. But overall expectations are high. The app was not in any news feeds, so thanks for highlighting it. I really do expect for it to as functional as possible
