Xbox One State of Decay Dev Signs Multi-Year Extension With Microsoft

You know what, multiplayer would be awesome here.

It will man. Imagine: when you want to scour the world map for a house to stay, you can have your friends help you out. As in, the player-controlled friends. You can even pounce on enemies who are players themselves. It's like a DayZ but done in the style of State of Decay. Oh yes, that'd be awesome indeed.

I would be all over multiplayer in Undead Lab games. The mechanics of the game would be a huge breath of fresh air for online action games.

Multiplayer would work extremely well for State of Decay, but it would have to be in away where it's not large numbers of people online since an abundance of people kind of kills a zombie apocalypse. SoD always had a good amount of zombies--not too many like Dead Rising and not too sparse like DayZ or WarZ.

Oh yeah, it's important that you keep the numbers...decent. There's an element of strategy to SoD: gathering resources, manning the watchtower, patrols and keeping hordes down, protecting base, etc. You can't have people just Leroy Jenkins-ing and killing your whole base. It would be an interesting game in multiplayer mode.

Yeah, like that. I don't think it'd be MMO-like but somewhere where there's a limit to how many players are in. Put up lots of servers but it has limits to players. It would be cool if it's like that. Maybe that's why the developers didn't want to add multiplayer yet; the elements they had were perfect for single-player but when going multiplayer, it would complicate the system. Now, with a new deal, they can finally figure out the way to make multiplayer happen.

It'd suck if it was MMO-like. Suddenly, the houses get occupied, there's already road rage, there's already lots of dead zombies, there's.... it'll be chaos. No way would State of Decay be fun anymore.
