Xbox One Taking the Day Off For Launch???

Yes i am going to be off work for the release date and my request was granted. I am so excited for the release of this console. Xbox has always been on point with the consoles and this will be no different in my opinion.

I don't know why people would take the day off just to play something that's already been done before, something that's just been reimaged and renovated with better hardware. It's no different than taking a day off to play on the Xbox 360... other than it being a "new" console with "better" hardware.

It honestly surprises me to see how many of you are taking a day off of work just to play the Xbox One...

I don't have a job to take the day off from :p if I did I would.

I do have plans with my uncle the day after though. He's coming round to my house to watch the Dr Who special with me and he's probably going to have to drag me off the XBO to watch it

Man, that's the plan for me as well... Minus the uncle! That weekend is going to be the greatest weekend ever!

It's new, fun and something we all enjoy. Life is too short not to do things that really interest you at times. Why not take a personal to have a great time with a game system?

Hey man, this is a light hearted conversation born of excitement from getting a new console, all the new possibilities, you don't have to be Buzz Killington, who are you to tell a group of like minded people what they should be excited about,, in the words of Eric Cartman I say "screw you I'm going home"

I have the 21st through the 23rd off, just my regular weekend (I work 4 tens). That gives me 1 day to prepare.

I ordered from the Xbox 360 dashboard, but unfortunately UPS/FedEx usually comes in the late afternoon, so I don't expect to actually get the console until later Friday (22nd). At least I have the 23rd to enjoy it before going back to work.

LOL,,I'll just say "new console with better hardware". Not to mention new and better games. I've never said this before because everyone in this community has different opinions and I respect that; but your comment about the XB1 is just plain ignorant.

I am doing this a little differently. The console should arrive on time on the 22nd, but I am holding off on opening it until Hanukkah, which is the night before Thanksgiving. Letting my son open it as a gift. So we will have the whole weekend to play. :-)

I took a 10 day vacation for the LAUNCH! I AM SO DAMN READY!

YES it is, and I requested all of those days on May 21st of this year. LOL

I'd rather have shorter work days if I had the choice, really. I always have something to do so I prefer to get work out of the way before playing. Like I said, though, I'm not buying either console on release day so it won't make much of a difference. Heck, when I got my PS3 I didn't play it for almost the entire day because I had so much homework to do. I figure if I can wait to get it to begin with, waiting another few hours or couple of days isn't going to kill me.

Anyone expecting major bottlenecks late Fri and over the weekend when more get on????

I saw a few YouTube videos over the weekend of people predicting doom and gloom.

I am not really expecting much, but I took the day off to try to get the update and some other things just in case.
Then I can just play off line if needed.

I have a 3 day weekend for launch and 4 1/2 the next weekend for Thanksgiving and playing. We have
to use our days by 12/31 or lose them so I have a few more to fit in somewhere.

Nope, I'm not getting it day one. I'm sticking with the 360 for a little bit and probably pick it up before Christmas.

Oh yeah, I believe there will be a few hiccups for both new systems. But, since Microsoft is requiring XB1 users to do a mandatory update day one, I'm sure there will be some lag and download delays.

I disagree. The number of pre-orders is sitting right around 1 million by now, maybe add another million to that for the first weekend of sales.

That 2 million people all logging in and downloading updates on the same day is very minor when compared to, let's say, the GTA IV update that happened. In that case there were closer to 7 million Xbox 360 users downloading on the same day.

Now factor in the new Xbox Live is running off exponentially more servers than the current version and I've concluded that day 1 experience will be really good.

I assume that a giant portion of our members are still in school, so its probably hit or miss if they take off the day. I work to live, like most people, so I'll be working that entire night more than likely.

I hope so! Hate to get the system and have to be delayed from playing games because of a hiccup waiting for the mandatory update to take place.
