I don't have a job to take the day off from if I did I would.
I do have plans with my uncle the day after though. He's coming round to my house to watch the Dr Who special with me and he's probably going to have to drag me off the XBO to watch it
I don't know why people would take the day off just to play something that's already been done before, something that's just been reimaged and renovated with better hardware. It's no different than taking a day off to play on the Xbox 360... other than it being a "new" console with "better" hardware.
It honestly surprises me to see how many of you are taking a day off of work just to play the Xbox One...

I am doing this a little differently. The console should arrive on time on the 22nd, but I am holding off on opening it until Hanukkah, which is the night before Thanksgiving. Letting my son open it as a gift. So we will have the whole weekend to play.
I took a 10 day vacation for the LAUNCH! I AM SO DAMN READY!
Anyone expecting major bottlenecks late Fri and over the weekend when more get on????
I saw a few YouTube videos over the weekend of people predicting doom and gloom.
I am not really expecting much, but I took the day off to try to get the update and some other things just in case.
Then I can just play off line if needed.
Oh yeah, I believe there will be a few hiccups for both new systems. But, since Microsoft is requiring XB1 users to do a mandatory update day one, I'm sure there will be some lag and download delays.

I disagree. The number of pre-orders is sitting right around 1 million by now, maybe add another million to that for the first weekend of sales.
That 2 million people all logging in and downloading updates on the same day is very minor when compared to, let's say, the GTA IV update that happened. In that case there were closer to 7 million Xbox 360 users downloading on the same day.
Now factor in the new Xbox Live is running off exponentially more servers than the current version and I've concluded that day 1 experience will be really good.
