Xbox One Telltale Announces Tales from the Borderlands

Telltale has announced Tales from the Borderlands, a new episodic series coming in 2014.

The project will include both existing characters in the Borderlands universe and new ones, some of whom will be "wanna-be Vault Hunters" according to Gearbox head Randy Pitchford.

Tales from the Borderlands is "very much in the Borderlands world" but contains Telltale's typical gameplay, though it's promised to be "big and bombastic."

Telltale will develop the game, but Gearbox is consulting and helped to come up with the project.

Damn! This one was the biggest shock to me in the show. Telltale and Gerbox teaming up?!!!!!!! Seriously, this one is a shocker. Wow, just wow. More Borderlands story then. It may not be Borderlands 3 but it's great to continue the storyline. I cannot wait for this one.
 
Well, well, Telltales got Borderlands in their library. This is interesting. So rather than getting a new FPS/RPG Borderlands, we get this one: a point-and-click but with shooter elements Borderlands. It still continues the story after BL2 (it even shows Handsome Jack again... in tech form? Errr... I'd better finish BL2 first). Interesting, interesting. Lookin' forward to this.
 
Tales from the Borderlands. Hahah. Wow, this came as a surprise. First time we'll see a Borderlands in the style of a Telltales gameplay system. And it seems to look like a direct sequel to Borderlands 2 'cuz Handsome Jack made a cameo in the game. But, we'll be playing wanna-be vault hunters so it adds a little jolt to the story. Awesome!
 
Haven't tried the previous games. But I did see Borderlands. If this is going out I guess I'll get it. Judging from the videos that I've seen from Borderlands 2, this might definitely be a sequel to it. Either way it does look like a decent game but I'm not that hyped about it.

I wouldn't recommend you buy this if your expecting a sequel to the previous games. This is a Telltale point and click adventure version of the game and not a FPS like the originals. This will be like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among us.
 
Holy smokes! This is... wow. Just wow. I'm currently playing Borderlands 2 right now (got the GOTY version, so lotsa lotsa content for me to play with) on Steam and now they announce this? I'm even surprised Telltales was able to hook up with Gearbox to make a Borderlands game in their style. Sweet, sweet. Well, I got something to look forward to then. But then again, with all the add-on campaigns still unplayed in BL2, I'll be taking a lot of time before I venture into this one. But definitely a must-buy for me :-D
 
You make a good point there. They've yet to finish those two games (I mean, The Wolf Among Us's next episode is 2014) and Season 2 is about to begin next week. All right, me and doodseven won't have much of a problem then. We got all the time in the world to finish BL2's story.
 
Now I'm even more interested in this. Aside from Borderlands being amazing, I enjoyed The Walking Dead a lot as well and can't wait to see the two of them together. So, episodic which probably means releasing as digital content only. At least until they have enough episodes to release a disc version. I may wait for the disc version though. I have a hard time actually paying full price for a Walking Dead type point and click game that really has no replay value for me.
 
Same here. As for the digital episode thing, looks like it's going to be that way. At the end of the episodes, we'll have a disc version lined up. Or you can wait until they go on sales for it so you don't have to pay for it full price. Either way, it's going to be awesome. Oh yeah.

I imagine they'll rotate Borderlands and Game of Thrones in the same way they do Wolf and Walking Dead
 
Yeah talltale better focus on finishing what they have on their plate. IF they stretch themselves to thin then bad things will happen, and there will be a lot of angry people. Still, I look forward to this because I am curious to see how well talltale and Gearbox work together.

Well, if that's gonna be how it is, then I don't have to worry so much :-) Well, I got lotsa time before Tales comes in, so time to hit it up and play BL2! Hmmm... curious why Handsome Jack is in virtual form... (nope! Aint' gonna ask no more. I'll just play BL2 and finish it).

Yeah, I agree. They can't just make so many games and then suddenly fall down on their quality. I'm sure they know their plans with this. I also look forward to this 'cuz you know, it's Borderlands and to implement the style of the point and click is going to be something that we need to see done well. Borderlands is known for its epic scale in FPS and RPG exploration so can they make something out of a game known for freedom exploration into point and click? This I will have to see.
 
We'll have to see how this games proceeds once it's out. I haven't seen the videos yet but I did play borderlands before. I hope this game is as great as the previous game or if not better. Either way, I'm looking forward to playing this game.
 
needs gmeplay video... i love the boarderlands.. but no clue what or who the other company is and how they will handle the fan base of boarderlands.
with it not being a fps game game play means more than this vid every day of the week.. bl2 is cartoonish to begin with
 
The gameplay will be like all the other Telltale games. I'm shocked you haven't heard of them since they had one of the most popular and best games last year, they even won Game of the Year for several sites and the VGAs. They made The Walking Dead and Season two of it is out soon. They also recently released The Wolf Among Us which got great reviews.
 
i just watched the wolf among us(20 minute gameplay) looks like a great fit for boarderlands art style and general attitude of characters. it can fill in a good bit of story line from 1-2 and proably 3.. in all honesty with as open as boarderlands1-2 have been a game that fills in story line can be just as open and have a ton of content. think of all the working characters in the 2 series so far..
