Xbox One The Sims?

You know, that's funny. For some reason, many women I know love The Sims. Not a lot of videogames cover the female demographic so fully but there's something about a parallel life that strikes a chord with all types of people.

As someone mentioned earlier the next installment is in the works.

Yeah, you make a point there. Many games are mostly of the male-centric demographic but for games like The Sims, women love them. It's like why? Maybe they like controlling character's lives? They like the act of living a virtual life? There's something with the Sims that attracts girls to them. Ah, the weird nature of games I guess.

I've always felt that women jumped on The Sims because you make your own scenarios, your own storylines, your own characters, and their relationships, etc. When everyone regardless of gender play a game you're escaping into a virtual life/world of some sort for a short period of time. Some games actually have more emphasis on the "life" part (Harvest Moon/Rune Factory, The Sims) as opposed to an emphasis on the "world" part. The Sims allow for creating a world of sorts and living different lives as you would like.

All of that occurs while not having to play to through heavily male-centric storylines with hyper masculine characters (in most cases) in games mostly targeted and advertised towards guys. The Sims is basically a blank canvas. My girlfriend has basically said the same as to why she isn't a gamer. She'll get into indie games on occasion, but her main thing is the Sims, Sim City, etc.

My girlfriend enjoys the Sims a lot. She loves The Sims. I'm a fan, but she puts me to shame.

If you enjoy the game a lot, then the PC version is going to be much better. It will probably have better controls and a better interface. I've never liked the Sims games on the console because they can be frustrating if you're coming from the PC.

I've been wondering about a Sims game for next gen consoles, too. I'm surprised to hear that number four is in the works for PC but not for consoles. I know it started out as a PC franchise, but I thought the branching out to consoles was permanent. I hope number four makes it way to the One; those Sims games make for a nice break from my usual shoot 'em ups.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. I'm glad to hear that the Sims 4 is in the works but it's disappointing to hear that nothing has been said for sure about it being on the One. She'd probably go for having it on PC rather than not having it at all, but I think she's gotten used to playing #3 on the 360 and really wants another console version.

I wouldn't worry about that, man. It's 99.9999% likely it's coming to X1, PS4, and Wii U some months after the PC version. It'll lack the modding features and the deeper expansions that make it fun, but it wouldn't be story driven as Sims 2 on handheld and consoles. As a matter of fact, since Sims 2 (and probably Sims 1 on PS2), all the Sims games bar Sims Medieval have reached consoles. So it's highly likely your girl will be able to enjoy Sims 4 sans PC.

It'll come don't worry. But then yeah, you should have the plan to buy it on PC in case. Also, if your wife is the fan of the expansion packs, yeah, better get 'em on PC then. But yeah, it'll come, I'm sure of it like what the Outrun says.

I do hope Sims 4 will come on Xbox One. My hard drive is almost full at One Terabyte. I am planning on getting an extra hard drive just for games. Well it would help if it's on Xbox One that way my wife can play it there instead and I can save some space.

You're almost filled up at 1TB?! Whoa... then that's wow. How in the world did you fill up 1TB? Wait, maybe some of it come from the Xbox 360?
And yeah, hope it does too. But let's hope the expansion packs come to it too? That's something the Sims console versions have yet to adapt: expansion packs.

Too bad for Xbox One. Well I guess it's a good deal since they'll have it first on pc. Things will be a lot easier to use on pc.

I agree with Outrun and marthyrocks, Sims 4 will definitely come to consoles. History has shown that some form of the Sims appares on consoles since the first one.

I think that with DLC becoming a huge part of the second half of the last generation (that's a lot of of's), we'll see something resembling expansion packs on Xbox One and PS4. The Wii U version and 3DS versions will go without.

Agreed on the PC features. Unless the girl likes expansion packs and modding stuff, well, the Sims 4 will likely come. But yes, no modding and expansion though. Still, the Sims consoles versions have sold nicely so I guess it shows some fans are okay with no expansion packs. But what I wonder is with PS4 and Xbox One out now, will they bypass the restrictions the current-gen had with The Sims 3? We'll see.

It does make some sense. They will probably have to convince all the female gamers out there that their patches will be interesting enough to catch their attention.

That's where we'll see just how next-gen this new gen is. Consoles are still limited but I may be proven wrong with the PS4 and Xbox One. If I start seeing it happen, the modding phenomenon on consoles, then it's going to convince a lot to buy Sims 4 on the consoles.

There will probably be a version of the Sims 4 on consoles but in my opinion even with the annoying problems it's really only worth playing if it's on the PC. I love playing the Sims 3 and the expansions like Season, Generations, and my personal favorite Island Paradise give the game a lot of depth. Also the modding is huge for me so I stick with the PC. Maybe if the PS4 and Xbox One could provide those experiences I'd do it but I doubt it.

Most major games seem to be being ported over to consoles this generation. So I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they did, but it might be several months after the pc version, who knows.

I'd like to see that since I enjoy the Sims 3 and would like to see the Sims 4. But like silvananoir said, if I can't use mods and all the expansions then it won't be worth it to me. The expansions shouldn't be an issue I think as DLC (expensive DLC but still) but the mods are a big part of the Sims community and the game will lack something if I can't tailor it to my specifications.

I can agree. I don't know but when there's modding features like the PC has, it's awesome. Who doesn't like having Sims designed like your fave band? Or seeing your wacky picture as a wallpaper? Or even bringing expansion-restricted items to other expansions? It's just awesome to have that. If the PS4 and Xbox One can have this, then we'll see.
