What has the eight generation (XB1/PS4) done so far?

I don't think that there's any doubt that Microsoft and Sony are gong to continue to develop their systems long into the future, and even though PC gamers still look at consoles as their poorer cousins, that doesn't stop people buying them. Console gaming as been popular for a number of decades now, and if you look at how far the current consoles have come compared to ones like the NES and the Mastersystem, it's easy to see that advancements have been made in all areas.

That isn't to say that there isn't a lot more that can be done. Will they ever catch up to the PC? Probably not, but people will still buy them and with Sony and Microsoft's vision and their continued support, there's no reason to suggest that the console generation is at an end just yet.
