It takes 100's if not thousands of pictures and records video and audio which is kept by Microsoft, In my opinion i wouldn't want some fat old guy to creep on me just my opinion

First of all, LOL at the notion of you imagining some fat old guy jerking to your pictures of you sweating and gasping whilest simultaneously looking ridiculous...

SECONDLY, agreeing with Haze, where did you hear this from? I don't think that they would do that without telling us. Also, some people might just not care, ya know?

Some games do take "action shots" of your gaming, but usually do say that those pictures will be deleted if you don't physically upload them yourselves. The Kinect is a sweet way to play your games more interactively than other xbox games, and does have that risk of footage being misused, but personally, I feel confident in the privacy of the sensor. So, I would have to agree with the members before me and ask where you got your information.

People would get xbox kinect sensors for the same purpose they bought their wii. Interactive gameplay.. Personally i really dislike it.

Same reason people use webcams on computers, but a Kinect does a lot more. For one, Skype calls. Interact with games that use Kinect. Navigate your Xbox without a controller by movement of the hand or voice commands. There's many things that people will use the Kinect for and the privacy stuff will be to the point that the only way a fat dude is going to jerk to you is if your openly engaged in the jerking via a game like UNO where people can live stream already with a cam.

if your worried about kinect.. dont leave your house.

traffic camera
atm machines
traffic cams
your smart phone
webcam
drones
any gas station
any bank
and play that has securiety camea

you realize if u have a phone on you it is trackable every second of the day. if you have blue tooth on your phone link to a car that vehicle is track able at all times via sattalite..

on the low side you are photographed 30 times a day... and thats not big city life.

with all the talk about prism dont you think their is more to worry about than kinect. sure it isnt something great but in the big picture it nothing.

I can see where this would make you feel uneasy, but at the same time, it's not getting sent to Microsoft.
Only way it'd be sending to other devices is if you have your Xbox Live on or if you send it yourself.
As sc_shark said, there are cameras everywhere. Having a Kinect in a home is better than having your phone on you.

in my mind.. kinect is the stepping stone to virtual reality/immersive gaming without a controler..

with the illumiroom in some sort of development

and an advanced kinect... say 3.0 or better with illumiroom you will have a real world experiance

think of the capability or experiance with illumiroom(white square walled room) a dedicated 62inch hd 1080p 120hz+tv a 7.1 surround sound... with a airsoft style gun with the trigger mec working... where real world crouching creeping around a corner actually was part of how you played.

that is something you cant do with a contoler or really enjoy the experiance as much.

In response to this statement, I was hoping you'd post an article or blog so we can read the source material behind the claim. WIth any camera technology that's connected to an online device, the capability to take photos and video and upload are there. By the same logic, the camera on a Macbook is taking thousands of pictures and sending them to Apple.

With all that said, this is an article about Microsoft's response to consumer privacy concerns:

Xbox One's Kinect Can Turn Off, Microsoft Says, Noting Privacy Worries

I'm not really worried about this, but will play in the rumor playground when tossed the ball.

The difference is that Kinect filming your living permanently when a computer is turned off when not in use. It's normal to have doubts.
I will still say that the reversal of policy has allowed Microsoft to remove the permanent connection. Imagine the Kinect connected to the web all the time.:(

Permanent connection is one thing, but I don't like them assuming that everyone would want to use it to begin with. All these new games are stamped with the "better with Kinect" garbage--but says who? Certain voice commands would be useful in certain games, but the only person deciding whether a game is more fun with the Kinect should be me.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head; I don't like the extent that they are integrating Kinect into the One, and it's one of my main gripes with it. If Microsoft released a version of the One without the Kinect 2.0 for a mere $50 cheaper, I'd actually be more inclined to choose it over the package that includes the Kinect, although I wouldn't be surprised if they're divising ways to make the Kinect borderline mandatory.

The kinect sensor brings more games to life, by allowing the gamer to actually interact, instead of sitting on the couch. There's many people interested in the kinect sensor because most dont enjoy playing with only a controller.

50dollars isn't a substantial price drop and would be a poor move. Again kinect is a move towards something bigger it is just a progression at this point. By the time xb1 closes out kinect may be a 2.5 or 3.0 with the software section

I don't like the Kinect either, but for completely non-tin foil hat reasons. I'm not worried about Microsoft seeing what kind of things that I drink or eat when I'm sitting in front of my TV. I don't like the Kinect because most of it's games are pretty bad. I would rather have the Kinect spy on me rather than it using gameplay shots it takes of people when they play the Kinect dancing games for blackmail fodder. I think people who play Kinect games look stupid and I don't find doing stupid things while standing in place not fun at all.

I don't believe that at all. I don't doubt that there are a substantial amount of people who enjoy the Kinect--and that's just fine--but that doesn't mean that it should be mandatory. I don't dislike the idea of the Kinect as a whole, I just don't think it's gotten to the point where I'd prefer it to just a controller. But then again, I don't consider jumping around my living room waving at the TV to be immersive.

I use Kinect literally for Just Dance with friends. I don't think it records you, though, unless you allow it. Maybe I'm just being naive.

There is a lot of cool things that could be done with the Kinect, specially together with the Oculus Rift, but that is it, Microsoft limiting the Kinect usage for Xbox One only it's just bad, because creative people only have the tools to create new stuff on the PC.

Lolwut? This is all random bs spewed by these journalists who have nothing better to report.

Microsoft isn't recording everything using their camera. That's ridiculous.

Other than that kinect is useful because you can pretty much control your xbox interface using it and don't always need to have your controller in your hand.
