after a few months with the controller i have noticed a few things.

while the controller feels good it also seems to have some flex. its very minimal but is is noticeable to me.
the great texture on the bump sticks seems to be wearing thin where my thumb seems to rest.

things i wish the controller has.
wish the x,y,a,b button were backlight/led.. something like the xbox home button. its a nice grey color but when powered on it lights up white.

How does the controller compare to the 360's, in your opinion? Been wanting to hear firsthand impressions?

Yeah, give us your thougts sc_shark. What's the comparison between X1 controller and 360 controller? Might help me out when I buy the X1 in the near future.

The XB1 controller definitely has some advantages over the 360 (i.e.: trigger feedback, arcade thumbpad, etc...), but I think as a whole, the latest controller release for the 360 feels more sturdy and worth the price it costs. As sc_shark mentioned, some more lighting on the controller would be nice. I like how the PS4 controller has a blue light in the front.

i actually have quite wide hands with fat fingers..

the controler feels good.. it does sit in your hand well and for most part feels natural. but me personally i would like the bulk a littler wider where my palm is..(but this is doe to my hands) whne i get into a game and im really trying i find myself gripping it tighter which is probably where the little flex has come from. when im relaxed its much more comfortable.

the trigger are nice with the rumble... but after the first 10 times it rumbles and such its second nature you really don't notice it. the trigger pull is a bit tight.. and i would have loved if they were the same material as the dpad thing.(seems the day one controler is silver normal controler's are black)
the silver xbox home/dpad on day one are a really nice smooth silver color but it feels metallic(its not) and the xbox home button is backlight white.

the a,y,x,b are smooth and for most part feel good. but i would love a color led or backlit. just a personal touch..

the normal controler things/ that you rotate and such feel great out the box.. not stiff .. and the texture on the edges feel great out the box.. but it seems mine have taken some abuse and the texture where my fat fingers are has worn down a bit.. if i run my finger over it i can feel more texture on areas i tend to not use. i blame it on bf4.. running and generally only useing 3 areas tends to wear it down.

as fas as the bumps on the top.. ehh idk dont use them muh.. but again id love that smooth silver material. it just feels great.

I must admit, the X1 controller feels a lot like the 360 controller (not in a bad way, if it ain't broke... don't fix it). The rumble triggers (and the feel of the triggers) are amazing. Racing in Forza is unbelievable. You can "feel" the brakes locking up or a RWD car breaking loose. The d-pad is much improved (not that I use it much).

Otherwise, to be honest, the sticks and buttons feel very similar to the 360 controller.

I'm fortunate to have the means and education to mod my own touches. I replaced my XB1 directional pad with a Nintendo 3DS slider and also added two tac buttons on the back of my controller and installed a button re-mapper chip. I can remap ANY button and even up to 3 button combinations off one tac switch. I of course added a mod chip as well. I Dont really use them but I have special access from a friend who codes mod chips and I use his software to create mods for other people.

Anyways getting side tracked but I like to take what I Dont like and make my own stuff. I'll post some pics of my completed build. As of now I have everything installed and working but I need to do special controller case molding to make everything look sharp cosmetically. Its a one of a kind controller that's for sure! I was also going to do LEDs on the a,b,x,y buttons using 12f683 microchip with different led patterns and color fades as well! Here are so pics of my progress.IMG_20131231_155832_469.jpgIMG_20140105_164815_911.jpgIMG_20140104_095656_469.jpgIMG_20140104_212856_466.jpg

That seems awefully quick for the sticks' textures to be wearing off. The old 360 controller only started wearing after a few years of using. Overall, I prefer the X1 controller mainly because of it LB and RB buttons. They are more pronounced now compared to the 360's bumpers.

i like the controller more than my 360 to be honest... and i have got on my 360 since i have played the xb1.. it still feels familiar but you do notice a few changes and makes u like the xb1 when u get back on it.

thats some sick stuff man. deff keep us posted on the modds.

i would honstly pay for cnc aluminum triggers with a lighter trigger pull.. actually cnc aluminum thumb sticks would be sick... put a nurrel edge on it..

Things I want to change on the console. Well they have to develop some modified skins for it that way we can modify it and personalize it. I agree, the controller does feel good on my hands. I like it better than the older controllers that Xbox 360 had.

The 'light' novelty wears off fairly quickly.

It's awesome when it's used to indicate something, but when it's just blue, it sometimes creates a glare or just unwanted light.

You're right about the texture on the thumb sticks wearing off. I bought an extra controller which I barely used and I switched to it and it is a completely different feel. The sticks really grab my thumbs, while the controller I use most is worn down a lot.

Although I got my Kontrol Freek order in the mail the other day and I love them! I really missed not having them as I always used them on 360.

after playing some bf4 tonight and really paying attention to my controller i have to say.. the area where your palm goes is where m getting my flex. i can actually grab it a cretin way and u can feel the shell splitting i could probably do it long enough and get it to pinch my skin.

As far as I'm concerned I noticed a big difference on Xbox One's controller compared to Xbox 360. The shaped and the ergonomic design is a given but mine was tested even more when my kid threw a tantrum and tossed my controllers (2 to be exact) out of the window (2nd floor). It broke as expected compared to what happened before where my daughter threw the 360 controller and it didn't even break. Just had a few scratches but was still working.

Below this is a video "made for another site that I frequent" for the mod off competition I'm in!

Just shows basic operations and that its in working order.

The light has its use. First off it's to indicate which player the gamer is. It's also so that the camera can detect the controller better for games. The light is also to indicate the current condition of the character in some games.

Things I wish it had:

More cool lighting effects. I know this is silly, but it would be nice to have a button you could push to make it flash. Another thing that would be interesting is if some sort of ventilation was built into the grip.

sad thing is Microsoft "or even PlayStation" doesn't pick up on this. I guess they leave this up to third party companies. I'm sure there will be per modded led controller shells in the near future but for now u have to be a modder to get these luxuries.

On a side note, if this a route u want to take, there are plenty of opensourse codes that are avalible to flash chips with that will give u your lighting fixes. Only problem is u have to put in work. Once u add up the cost though its well worth it!

Chips are $1.05 a piece, 4 LEDs " can be simple 3mm LEDs" or "0603/0805 smd leds" run about $1.50 for 4 and 30 AWG wire about another 4$. Total build is like $5.50, that's if u have your own pic programmer, hot glue gun & solder. Even the cheap pic programmers run about 25$ so they pay for themselves!

Anyone interested in doing this themselves PM me and I can link u to sites to obtain all the knowledge to do this. Its actually real easy and they have instillation and part guides that walk u through every step.

i'm very much aware of the possible use, that's why I said in my previous post that it's functionality is appreciated, but it also does fail in my case since I decided not to purchase the camera and that I still find it really annoying when apps like Netflix or anything non-gaming related is in use.
