Xbox One Xbox One and PS4 games will take 10.7 Days to download on slower broadband

Even if the data isn't entirely accurate, there still is the huge possibility of slow download speeds. You never really know when your internet connection is going to fluctuate and it just might do so right as you're excitedly waiting for that shiny new game to finish downloading. I'm a bit old-fashioned and will be sticking to hard copies if I possible can.

Plenty of possibility, but the numbers are exaggerated. I don't think it took me that long to download a movie on 56k

Some factors missing are the location of the player downloading, and depending on their server's location it can make a huge difference (US residents are just fine), size of the game they got those results with (probably somewhere around 30-50 GB), and possibly the time of the experiment since they were obviously sleep deprived to pull those off.

Yup, that's more factors. Basically, the numbers are, yes, not so accurate. I've read all your comments and considering the possibilites, this story looked like it was just sensationalized. It really doesn't take into account the many factors that are needed.

The survey takers should really take the time to consider that not everybody will take that long to get their games to be downloaded. As you say, some are faster and some are slower but definitely you can't expect to download that long for a PS4 and Xbox One game. 'Sides, not all games are 50GB yet so he, lots of missing factors.

Yup, so we can all agree these numbers are not accurate and biased. We all have different speeds, efficiencies , providers and experiences. Whoever made the supply didn't consider the right factors to really give a comprehensive survey about the connection and download.

Yeah it really does depend on you're connection, the size of the download and overall who your service provider is. My downloads are lighting fast because I have Fios but my friend gets her internet through a cable provider and it's painfully slow but we live in the US. I've heard that UK internet could be a problem for the next-gen but 10 days seems like a great overexaggeration. Now hours I can believe but days?

Wow. If I took that alone and out of context, I'd be shocked and appalled at the inefficiency. But hearing some of the input from other posters in this thread kept me from jumping to conclusions, lol. I'm an American so I can't speak to what it's like in the UK, but I do know that sweeping generalizations about download speed can't be made this way, based on an average. It certainly is a reasonable starting point but most definitely not a rule.

That is a long wait, I mean you minus well not even download the game if you are going to have to wait that long. It just seems a bit too much for me personally. I would probably not be able to last knowing it would take that long to download a game.

It really is surprising when you look at the figure because I'm not sure about what the connections are in the UK. I'm used to pretty good speeds where I live so my downloads have always done pretty well. I still can't believe that that number is real and that people but up with it. I can imagine that it's an hour because some of these files are large but seriously WTF.

To be blunt, this survey is so inaccurate that the most pressing issue that supersedes any sort of vaguely slow internet connection speeds is the matter of bandwidth for those with a metered connection. I would not be surprised if they took these results from studies at the furthest points overseas, but then they should have realized it would ultimately be inaccurate as a statistic for those who live closer to the Xbox One servers. There is really nothing more to be said.

Yeah, WTF indeed. As some of have said here, it's like this was just sensationalized. Looking at all the replies, it already shows the numbers here are nothing but BS. They never take into account the high-efficient connections of others, and the areas. Maybe it's just average but you can bet that 50GB can never take more than 10.7 days. Besides, not all PS4/Xbox One games are 50GB. Dead rising 3 for example is 19GB. Whatever, they just want to make it look like next-gen is too slow to download.

That part of why I am only buying discs. I do have Xfinity Blast internet so speed is not a problem, but if space
ever becomes a problem and I have to uninstall and reinstall all the time, hours of wasted time will matter.

Yeah, that's true. Now I'm finally seeing a reason to get discs. But then again, as others say here, the numbers here are just sensationalized. so we don't have to worry about the speeds letting us download a game in a week or two.

Actually, the xbox one has a maximum download speed of around 37 MB/s because it uses 802.11n. So my point is that even if you had a 100+ MB/s speed you are still restricted to 37 MB/s. Feel free to hate/correct me if I got something wrong.

Well, i'm not an expert on this but if you what you say is true.... then still, the numbers in that survey is wrong. We don't even know what factors they used to get the survey. And now you've put out a good factor: the speed limit of the Xbox One.

Yup. You're right. As many have said, there are so many missing factors in this survey, so it can't be accurate at all. They never take into account the efficiency, the service providers, etc. Just another way to make a story I guess.
