Xbox One Xbox One Ebay Scam

I heard of this one. Man, I can't believe he got scammed badly. And all he gets is a picture? Ouch. You got to check the credibility of the seller 'cuz sometimes, you just don't know; he may be scamming you.

You got to be careful these days. eBay and other auction sites are places where scammers can scam people without warning. Last time I heard , the guy recovered from his scam. He was refunded the money and he even got a free Xbox One! At least there was a happy ending :-)

The guy who got scammed got a free Xbox One. So that picture is long gone from his memory. He can enjoy playing the games! But man, can't believe there are scammers like that in the world. Picture?! Worst and disrespectful scam I've ever heard of.

Scams come in all shapes and sizes when it comes to electronics, it's just easier to do when you've got an auction site in the mix. It sucks he got scammed, but I'm glad he got his cash back and a free Xbox One.

It's great that he got an Xbox One and his money back. The nerve of some people. The scammer was just rubbing it in with the picture.

It happens all the time on ebay and the scammers justify what they've done by being clever in how they word their ads. You have to really look at the seller's reputation as well as how they word the ad. I've never gotten ripped off but I have heard about happening. I mean someone posted a Judge Judy video on youtube showing how they got scammed.

With people really wanting the newer consoles it seems as though people just look at the price, the distance, and damn the rest.

Those nasty hooligans. I hope this doesn't happen again to any of the buyers. Well it isn't fair to buy a product and not getting it, but it is worse if you can't get it because you were scammed.

Did anyone click on the link to the original story? He admits it said it was a picture in the listing. Misleading perhaps, but it did say it. Not only do you not check out the seller, but you don't even read the listing. Then he goes crying to the media, and says he was saving up to "buy it for his four-year-old son". A four-year-old does not need a $500 console, and does not know to want one. It was for the 19 year-old. I think there is more than one scam going on. I think he should have been taught a lesson, not given his money and a free console. If EBay chooses to refund the money and follow up with the seller that is good business. But why give this guy a free console?

Happy enough for the guy who was almost out $450 to a Nigerian prince. What I wonder is, what happened to the seller? I imagine account termination isn't exactly justice.

I'm quite surprised the guy is 19 years old and has a 4 year old son. Yowza

That's funny, it clearly said in description that it's a picture not the actual item but some people don't read that too much.

I agree, you have to be careful when you order online. Especially if you are getting a deal like that, you have to be very cautious. That is why I hate ordering things online sometimes. However whenever I order I always use PayPal anyway so I never have any worries anyway.

So, idiot father didn't read the title of the auction, and the kid got an xbox one for free from an electronics store.

If you use Ebay and pay thur Paypal there is 0 chance of losing anything as they guarantee everything.

Not saying anything bad will not happen, but they reimburse you as long as you do it properly and
don't try to go outside their guidelines.

You are so right. I sell a lot on Ebay and people do not read descriptions, shipping terms and skip a lot of things.

I get so frustrated that I BOLD and even REPEAT some things if they really matter.

Yeah, what's the point in giving a free console. That's a big mistake from them.

I hate scammers. I've been scammed a few times on items and in game money on a few of my online games. I feel sorry for the guy who got scammed by this person. Well having a lame excuse to have a console for his 4 year old son is unacceptable. How the hell would a kid like that play these games.

If the ad really did list that it was for the picture than yes it is on that guy to read the description. It's basic ebay rules now, you have to check the rep of the seller, read the comments that people have made, and always read the description very carefully. I mean in the end the kid won, he got a console.

Inasmuch as this would be infuriating, perhaps hair-ripping for anyone who could have potentially found themselves in that situation, there is an atmosphere of humor revolving around it that cannot be ignored (hence its eligibility in a press release). I imagine the scammers themselves could not stop laughing after seeing all that, and in the end, while the poor guy did get a free console as recompense, the scammers still gained a cool 450 euros.
