If you've been nagging to get the Verizon app on your Xbox One, you're in luck: it's now up for download for free. The downside: you need Verizon AND Xbox Live Gold for this. So much for it being free.
As reported by Gamespot,
A free Verizon FiOS TV app is now available on Xbox Live, but you'll need subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold and Verizon to make use of it. The same is true for the existing Xbox 360 Verizon FiOS TV app.
Users can stream up to 74 live channels (the exact number depends on your subscription package) through the Xbox One using the app, which also features Kinect voice and gesture controls.
Since the Xbox One already allows you to patch through your cable feed directly to the system, you might wonder why you'd need to download the app at all.
Verizon says one benefit is you'll be able to stream two video feeds at once using the Snap feature. The benefits for sports fans is obvious: watching two games at once, but this also works for any other live programming.
My thoughts? I got not much to say since I don't have Verizon, Gold or the Xbox One. But this one looks to amplify what the Xbox One is being: all-in-one entertainment console. Imagine this guys: this is one app that COULD replace your cable boxes. This one shows live channels all from the comfort of your Xbox One. This sure as hell beats down PS4 in terms of who can have the live channels. Cable might be dying down over the years, but this one app already shows Xbox One is more than ready to start being the replacement. Well, if it means being able to watch The Walking Dead every week, then this is going to be awesome.
