The original Xbox launched with Dead or Alive 3 which wowed a lot of fighting game fanatics. When the Xbox 360 came along, Dead or Alive 4 was available at launch. Now that the Xbox One is out, no DOA game is in sight. What happened Microsoft?

DOA got multiplatform again since DOA 2 with DOA 5 right? I guess MSFT lost the rights to have an exclusive launch with the DOA, now that it's made appearance on the PS3 as well. Looks like the exclusive rights got lost.

Ever since DOA got into the multiplatform game with DOA5, MSFT just hasn't been the same with it. So yeah, no more. DOA is getting fans on the Sony side as well.

Maybe it had something to do with Itagaki's departure back in 2008. Ever since the guy went away, Team Ninja broadened out the series to other platforms, like the Dead or Alive Paradise in the PSP and the Dimensions in 3DS. Guess it meant MSFT lost the exclusivity of the series since then. Just my guess.

Yeah, you're right. Check its wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_or_Alive_(series)

Look over the chronology of releases. The last game DOA game Itagaki worked on was back in 2006, and that was Dead or Alive Extreme 2. After his departure in 2008, they released a new DOA game for iOS. It was that Blackjack game. Then the next one was for PC, Dead or Alive Online. And then the PSP game, DOA Paradise. Then the rest, as they say is history... to be multiplatform again.

So sorry my friend but MSFT lost the exlcusivity to have DOA since Itagaki left Team Ninja.

Wow, all that happened 'cuz Itagaki left? Ouchies. No wonder there was no DOA game on launch with Xbox One. Well, that's how it is.

It would have been nice seeing a DOA on the XB1, but oh well...

well...there's only been 3 xbox's. Plus xbone did launch with killer instinct so that sorta took up the fighting game spot. Plus as everyone else said it's not really an exclusive anymore so they had no pressure to make it a launch title.

Yeah man. It could have been nice if they had kept Killer Instinct as an exclusive but I guess they can't do it because well most fighting games are always attracted to Sony.

You have a point there man.

You make the point right there. Man, MSFT's losing the grip on exclusives. Guess they had to keep exclusivity on games they can get. DOA just wasn't the one since Itagaki left. Ah well, launch period is over.

So all in all, we can conclude: this is definitely the first time DOA didn't make its debut as a launch game for an Xbox console 'cuz Itagaki left Team Ninja. DOA is now multiplatform property.

Yup,. and that's that. Even the girls need new customers to keep the business ;-D hjehehehe... okay, that came out wrong.

sony's been loosing exclusives as well I mean MGS and Kingdom hearts were HUGE exclusives for sony but look how that turned out. At the moment I think they're pretty even for exclusives (as for the quality that's up to personal taste)

Yeah, pretty much man. Well said.

The jiggly tits and cute anime faces will be missed. I think it's only because DoA5U came out very recently, though, no? It's too soon for a DoA6.

MGS wasn't really that exclusive. MGS1 got released on PC. MGS2 got released for original Xbox and PC. Must have not done well on those systems (probably bad ports, I know PC is a bad port don't know Xbox) so they didn't port MGS3. MGS4 was, supposedly, because the game has a lot of data that would have been hard to fit into the 360's discs (6gbs at the time I think) so they didn't bother. That's without considering the original Metal Gear games started on MSX. They do have favoritism for Playstation, but not really exclusive.

Kingdom Hearts is by Square-Enix and Square-Enix is a money-hungry beast. They released Final Fantasy XIII on multiplatforms because it was more profitable, same is happening now with KH3. They were also sticking with Nintendo when they were Squaresoft, the Playstation exclusivity probably happened because fitting multi-disc PS1 games on N64 cartridges would have been impossible and Gamecube also had 1.4gb discs vs the PS2's 4gb discs. Other than that, Kingdom Hearts on handhelds has been mostly on Nintendo systems, simply because they sell better than Sony's. So yeah, it's all about the money for them, but they weren't really exclusive either.

I'm just saying you can't trust 3rd parties to keep making exclusives, unless it's known that they have an exclusivity deal with the company. I mean, Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive because Sony was helping with development and publishing in Japan but they screwed up localization so the developer created Dark Souls as a multiplatform series instead. (Sony must feel so dumb, they didn't realize Demon's Souls would end up being such a hit when localized)

I'm sorry this post ended up so long, though!

Hahahah jiggly tits XD Anyway, agreed man. MGS wasn't exclusive to PS before. As for the KH.... nah, KH wasn't an exclusive to Sony. ONLY the console entries. The other entries, such as 358/2 Days, were on other platforms so technically KH wasn't an exclusive.

Oh and I have to disagree with you on the KH part: THE SONY KH GAMES SOLD BETTER THAN THE NINTENDO KH GAMES. I believe the worst-selling KH game was re:coded.

True, except on the KH sales. The Sony ones sold a lot more than the Nintendo. That's why they justified re-releasing them on the PS3, since they know most of their audience switched from PS2 to PS3 by that time.
