Xbox One is likely to turn on faster than your television when powered from its stand-by mode, according to Xbox director of product planning Albert Penello in a statement on Reddit.

Penello gives a clearer idea into how the new console functions, explaining the system's three power stages as "On is On. Off is Off. Standby allows 'Xbox On', quick resume, checking for updates, etc."

"[Standby] is the mode we'd like to see people in, obviously, so you get back to gaming or watching TV really quick. From standby, it's likely the Xbox will be on before the TV is completely powered up."

That's...well that's friggin' fast. LOL. The stand-by mode adds even more incentive for me to never turn of my XBOX ONE. The big seller here is background updates, which are a game changer.

Indeed. Seriously think about this u guys. Having the console in standby, having all DD games and being able to switch between all apps and feastures, and cable hooked up, auto downloads, man this is truly a next gen console

No doubt! I'm equally excited about the XB1's TV features and dashboard as I am the games! Bring it on!

I've always intended to use the standby mode. I'm actually going to do a comparison video between Xbox 360 and Xbox One bootup and login times (among other things).

Another nice thing about standby mode is that you can push downloads to your device from anywhere as long as you are logged into Xbox.com. When you buy stuff from the marketplace on the website it will auto-download to your console (or queue up if your console is off). That's how it works now with the Xbox 360 anyway.

Not suprised that this was going to be one of the simple features. Gotta factor in that this is also an all in ONE style system, whereas a TV is just a well....tv.

thats like saying,"if i dont really turn my computer off, it will start faster than if your computer is off, and you turn it on.

I mean its cool that it has a standby mode, but pcs have had standby, and hibernate for years now. Like i said its still cool but they want to act like its the second coming of jesus

I think you missed that it is still "active" and "does things" when in standby, computers don't.

I dunno about you guys, but my TV is slow as hell when turning on, so this isn't anything surprising or amazing for me, hahah...

I think it still is.

Consider this likely scenario:

You: <walk into room where Xbox One is>
You: "Xbox On"
<Xbox turns on instantly, IR blaster turns on your TV, recognizes your face and auto-logs you in>
You: (While waiting for TV to turn on) "Xbox Play Titanfall"
<TV finally turns on>

Now, instead of you waiting for your console and tv, the console and tv are waiting for you, Titanfall loaded and ready to play. All before the tv screen even finished turning on.

:)

It seems logical and good to know.
The start of my console is not very important. This is the start of the game that bothers me. I think it will be less worse on Xbox One.

I wonder if the days are updated in the background! It would be really nice.

I'm not a fan of leaving my appliances in stand-by mode .... But if it can improve my gaming experience .. Why not?

Wow, that's impressive. And the best of all is that it will probably not going to consume a lot of energy.
But I'm more concerned about the loading times once you're playing a game. I mean, the console might be blazing fast to turn on, but if the loading times are too long then it would be kinda useless.

Somewhere I read a statistics from MS about the energy consumption when it's in standby mode. I'll dig to see if I can find that info. From what I remember though, the energy consumption was negligible when in standby.

Yeah I heard that too somewhere. It uses ALOT less energy than X360

And this means what? Seriously, it blows my mind what stupid features people will drool over. Who cares how fast it turns on as long as it doesn't take an eternity. It is not as if we are in the era of slow booting computer games.

I guess some do, just read this thread.

I would take an almost instant start over waiting 1-2 minutes to do something if given a choice.
