Xbox One Microsoft considering making digital games cheaper

Knocking the price down some would really make the X1 more appealing. I don't particularly care if it sticks in the game stores' craw. Their trade policies have done that to me for years lol

So what's the latest news on this? Is it confirmed that Microsoft will indeed lower digital games prices? Seems to have gone cold, the news I mean. I hope it's going to happen so that I can at least have more options and consider getting the digital copy of games sometimes.

It's about time. When I look through the games on demand on the 360 it blows my mind that they sell old games at full price when you can go down to GameStop and pick it up for half the price. I still think some digital downloads on the One, like angry birds star wars should have been released for less than what they are.

If this goes through I would definitely pick up digital games more often than I do now.

Don't have any latest news on this, unfortunately. After all, they just "considered" but not changed anything. If this goes on for months.... I don't know what's gonna happen.

I have high hopes for this. I really wish they could make it happen.

They should. This is the digital world MSFT! This is not the old world where pricing can be put up. It's digital copies now so it's got to be lowered. Steam does it and they do well.

You're right, they should consider this and apply the changes as soon as possible.

That is if they can make it sooner, they've been quite busy with a lot of things so I guess it may take longer for them to consider it.

Honestly, thinking more about it, Microsoft or Sony starting to compete with digital pricing is gonna be fantastic for consumers. No matter which company takes the first step, the other will be pretty much forced to follow suit.

God, I love when companies compete to win our money.

Microsoft has announced it is exploring cheaper Xbox One digital game prices, starting with Ryse: Son of Rome.

The company announced earlier today that the gladiatorial game will be getting a discount in the run up to the release of new DLC, but studio manager Mike Ybarra has since clarified this is also being done in response to fan requests for less expensive titles.

From February 18 until February 24, the Games on Demand version of Ryse: Son of Rome will be available for $39.99 / £34.99, with more discounts planned for add-ons every day between February 25 and February 27, ahead of the release of the Mars' Chosen Pack DLC on February 28.

Well this is certainly good news for all and combined with the sales on games the 360 that are currently ongoing, it definitely seems like MSFT is definitely on the right track for once. IF they believe the future of gaming truly is digital then they will need a more "Steam-esque" mentality when it comes to pricing. Even Playstation Plus is ahead of MSFT when it comes to their digital offering. Adapt or die is the general business mentality and I'm sure it's one MSFT is working to stay ahead of. I have confidence that sooner or later they will get it right, till then I'll maintain my faith in them.

Good to see its actually being put into place, cant wait to see what other games they put up for cheap. Thanks again knightmare

It's good that they have made it cheaper for people to get the games online. I would love to see new titles on digital (like the games that will be released this year) so we can get more games and more fun for us as well. Thanks Kn1ghtmare for posting this.

I agree. Well it's nice they made things cheaper for everyone, I have to thank them for that, I'm on a tight budget and I hope they could make all the games cheaper.

With all the changes going on, Microsoft is sure to be the talk of the gamers now that they have cheaper games available on digital.

Yeah, love the way they think now. The cheaper the game is the better the business will be for them since gamers will be logged in and will be on the download section all the time.

Finally! I remember we were talking about MSFT and their attitude towards digital pricing months ago. Now, it's finally happening. They're finally experimenting with digital pricing. Sweet. Let's see how it goes.

Definitively something to look forward to. I guess with the changes they plan on making they plan on redeeming themselves.

I agree man. Wow, this is really something. Xbox One is joining in on the fun of being "Steam"-ish when it comes to the digital market. Welll, let's see how the sales go.
