As I stated before in my last comment above, the X1 is NOT forcing you to do anything. The X1 is just giving you more option (features). You don't have to do anything else in the X1 if you just want to play games. I don't know if anybody else in this forum can help me understand the logic behind people's misunderstanding between the X1 playing games, and its features. If you buy a car that's fully loaded with extra features? Is that suppose to be a good thing? Why are people turning this into a bad thing? It's quiet baffling!
Agreed This is what I don't understand also. Those features are OPTIONS. Not mandatory. Its because for some reason people keep on referring to the X1 reveal. NOT E3, NOT Gamescon, or PAX. They are completely disregarding 3 conventions that were all about the games. Like I said before and provided a link to an article. Gamers are NOT the center of attention anymore. There is no way to argue it. But I am with you also. They are awesome features that are there and fully loaded if you would like to use them. Why buy a 302 Boss Mustang and only go 35 mph. Know what I mean? For $500 you are getting the bang for you buck. Whether you need them or not.
Here is the article I am referring to, a little old, was around before E3 but holds true -
Gamers seem to hate the Xbox One. If you wade into a comments section or ask a man-on-the-street at your local Mountain Dew distributer, you’ll hear a variety of reasons why the Xbox One is not for gamers—why it’s a horrible misstep, presumed dead on arrival. Some of these criticisms will ring a little truer than others, but none really tap into what’s really eating at the gaming elite. They’re mad that they’re not the center of attention.
See, for as long as they have existed, brand new consoles have been the provenance of the hardcore gamer. They are the only ones dedicated enough, enthused enough, to drop (or convince their parents to drop) a wad of cash on a new gaming system for the privilege of buying new and more expensive games. Gamers loved consoles, and consoles loved them right back. Except now, Microsoft’s eye is wandering, and gamers do not like it one bit.
