Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4 - Opinions

As I stated before in my last comment above, the X1 is NOT forcing you to do anything. The X1 is just giving you more option (features). You don't have to do anything else in the X1 if you just want to play games. I don't know if anybody else in this forum can help me understand the logic behind people's misunderstanding between the X1 playing games, and its features. If you buy a car that's fully loaded with extra features? Is that suppose to be a good thing? Why are people turning this into a bad thing? It's quiet baffling!

Agreed This is what I don't understand also. Those features are OPTIONS. Not mandatory. Its because for some reason people keep on referring to the X1 reveal. NOT E3, NOT Gamescon, or PAX. They are completely disregarding 3 conventions that were all about the games. Like I said before and provided a link to an article. Gamers are NOT the center of attention anymore. There is no way to argue it. But I am with you also. They are awesome features that are there and fully loaded if you would like to use them. Why buy a 302 Boss Mustang and only go 35 mph. Know what I mean? For $500 you are getting the bang for you buck. Whether you need them or not.

Here is the article I am referring to, a little old, was around before E3 but holds true -

Gamers seem to hate the Xbox One. If you wade into a comments section or ask a man-on-the-street at your local Mountain Dew distributer, you’ll hear a variety of reasons why the Xbox One is not for gamers—why it’s a horrible misstep, presumed dead on arrival. Some of these criticisms will ring a little truer than others, but none really tap into what’s really eating at the gaming elite. They’re mad that they’re not the center of attention.

See, for as long as they have existed, brand new consoles have been the provenance of the hardcore gamer. They are the only ones dedicated enough, enthused enough, to drop (or convince their parents to drop) a wad of cash on a new gaming system for the privilege of buying new and more expensive games. Gamers loved consoles, and consoles loved them right back. Except now, Microsoft’s eye is wandering, and gamers do not like it one bit.

Favoring A Console

. I have always preferred PlayStation over Xbox, and I don't see that being changed any-time soon with the latest console war.

Would you guys agree that most people will buy the console that they having been favoring for years? I used to be a PS2 guy growing up, obviously, but when I turned to Xbox I have never looked back and most likely never will. All of my memory from previous games are on Xbox's and I wouldn't want to start all over again. Does this argument apply to most gamers? Or do all of you have an unbiased opinion when picking a new console?

I disagree. I was a PS1 and PS2 gamer but hated the PS3 during the beginning of its life cycle and switched to Xbox 360. Turned into a HUGE microsoft fan but then during the spring of last year I was running out of good xbox games so I bought a PS3. I have only had it for a little over a year and now I am absolutely a Sony guy. The fact that they have so many good games that I missed out on and am catching up on, the fact that they are continually releasing great exclusive games right now, and that the PS4 has not pulled all of the Xbox One stunts and is $100 cheaper will make me remain a Sony guy for the extended future.

I know what you mean. This is why "gamers" should get both consoles, and enjoy "both worlds". Let Sony & MS battle it out, while we enjoy the competition that they create, to our benefit. I still have both PS3, and 360, and I can NOT stand how slow it is to do update firmware for the PS3. Since I love the ONLINE gaming experience (which is tide into a gamer profile), Xbox Live to me is the Superior Online gaming format, and I absolutely was impressed with MS future online gaming plans.

I'd say feature for the short term, power for the long term. A friend of mine actually pre-ordered his PS 4 months ago and been toying with the idea if he should also get xbox one as well. He's also been trying to get my husband to get one of the two,We've been discussing about it and a decision hasn't really been made. He is a fan of the kinect functionality but I am just worried after he's bored with the features,he'd want something that is better in power which PS4 will suit him better.

it has been discussed a few times... it wont matter.. people say the ps3 is more powerful as well. yet their are cross platform games that look better on 360 and some even say play better and the network on 360 is better.

its such a crap shot.. the director of microsoft hit on this. compairing a 350hp porsche to a 500hp vette how the porformance of the porsche is just better its an all around better car but it has less hp.

what has gone under the radar is the amount of computing the ps4 requires leaving only a small chunk or real gaming data. microsoft has not let that info out about what it takes to run the interface of xb1.

its really what u want to play on tht matters. your big title games will be on both systems.
xb1 offers dedicated servers with a solid multiplayer network system.(i expect better with dedicated servers) the genki(sp ps4) is only for ps3 and older games(its super fast but not used on new games) with p2p ps4 is still with the host server setup(from what i have read) this will give you the laggy or certin players a speed advantage.

the dedicated servers stuff is why titanfall chose xb1 over ps4 iirc(an article)

First of all, your argument about the xbox 360 games looking better is ignorant. Only in the reasoning. Yes, they did look better, but not because of the hardware being better in any way. Games on the 360 look better because it is the weaker of the two consoles and when a multi platform developer needs to make games for multiple platforms, the easiest way to go about it is to design it to run as smooth as possible on the weaker hardware and then port it over to the better hardware because it will be capable of running it still. If they did it the other way around the 360 would never be able to run the games because they would be too big. This makes the design process 10 times easier for developers.

And yes the ps4 requires a lot of computing but so does the xbox one if I am not mistaken. There is not "only a small chunk of real gaming data" left on either console. Close to 70% is left for gaming.

Also, there is no reason for you to believe the Geikai will be laggy in any way, and should not expect it to have any effect on the PS4's online multiplayer either because it is for old games. They will be completely seperate.

Titanfall will come to PS4. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind. I predict a year from when it releases on X1 because on almost all of their release information and interviews they talked about things like it was on X1, 360, and PC for now and stuff like that. Plus it is a game being published by Electronic Arts which is a multiplatform publisher and they will want to put the game on every major platform.

You wouldn't really notice any performance differences until 2-3 years in if ever. Keep in mind multiplatform games will be designed with the XB1 in mind.

I hope you're right, Titanfall looks to be one of the bigger reasons to buy an XB1 even though I'm leaning towards PS4 right now. Logically it makes sense, but I don't recall seeing a game go multi-platform after a whole year of being on one (correct me if I'm wrong here).

Even though it could, but like u said, it could be a long time from now. Look at Mass Effect. It took the 2nd one to come on both consoles for the 1st one to come out lol. By the time TITANFALL makes a leap to PS4 it will probably be too late.

I guess I am confused at your comment. How can a game look so much better on a console that is less powerful? What proof do you have that you are so certain Titanfall will port over? Jusr curious.

I am just stating this because I am not sure if people here actually know this, but, do you know the game WARFRAME (PS4 Exclusive) will be coming to Xbox One in 2014? This game as well is a timed exclusive, but Titanfall will be with X1 for a full year before it expires. WARFRAME is a 3 month times exclusive I have heard.

There's no denying the PS4 is more powerful. But it won't be that noticeable when you're playing cross platform games. And we'll have wait and see until some exclusives come out to see how each console performs.
The next console war is going to be closer than people think. I don't believe Sony is going to run away with it. There's still some time before Christmas for MS to do something. The hardware isn't as powerful so they're going to have to spend some serious money on marketing it. Who cares if the Xbox One isn't as powerful as the PS4, Jay Z is playing it.

...You do realize that a thread with this exact title is already stickied up top right? I'm just asking, because sometimes I hallucinate when I don't get enough sleep - and I haven't slept in over twenty-six hours... although I think I'm getting ready for a nice collapse.

Threads have been merged.

Thanks Mr. Drake Mallard! Although you seriously messed me up there for a minute - I was wondering how my comment got in the sticked thread... I'm seriously still sleep deprived.

I think that play station would be defeating xbox one want time. Sony has always stood ahead of Microsoft's Xbox and I think that this will happen this time also. Playstation brings an excellent user interface with itself and I am going to buy the latest playstation 4 in a day or two. Playstation 4 is going to be a lot faster than xbox one due to its excellent processor and 8 GB of DDR3 RAM.

I haven't looked into the details of each console yet but I believe the Playstaton 4 will be better, I don't know  it's just a feeling, maybe because Sony is always ahead when it comes to consoles.
